The ConoLine LS (Long Standoff) is a heavy duty non-contact line profile sensor for applications in rough environment of over 1050°C and very long stand off's. The ConoLine LS profiles deep grooves and sharp angles at high precision and is designed to produce sets of precise simultaneous profile measurements.
The ConoLine LS is a long stand-off non-contact line sensor with a line length of up to 300mm, 600 points along the line, stand off of up to 1.2 meters, precision in Z 200µ and measurement rate of 30Hz.
The Conoline LS can be customized to work with different objective lenses, enabling higher precision with shorter line length.
When combined with TV cameras, the Conoline LS can be used for clutter suppression.
The ConoLine LS is especially designed to work in harsh environments and is able to inspect cracks in objects over 1050°C.
In-process inspection of hot steel bars in the Metal & Steel industry.
In this field, the on-line detection of surface defects in steel slabs produced in continuous casting has been a bottleneck for improving productivity both in the steel shop and in the rolling mills.
Longitudinal surface cracks that can be produced in the steel solidification process are harmful for the quality of the rolled products, so they must be removed before the slabs are sent to hot rolling.
The surface cleaning of cracks is a high cost operation: the slab must be cooled down near to ambient temperature, manually revised in both faces and, in case of presence of cracks, scarf manually; then the slab must be reheated for hot rolling.
Without automatic means for on-line detection of cracks, all suspicious slabs must be checked this way, many of them finally not needing any kind of scarf.
