Smart ConoProbe - High Definition
The High Definition Smart ConoProbe (Smart HD) is a non-contact distance point sensor especially designed to measure very small features of highly reflective surfaces at long standoff's. It has optional interchangeable objective lenses, enabling measurements of <0.5µm precision.

Specifications

The Smart HD has a "system on chip" platform, where all data processing, including pre-programmed functions, are performed in the sensor head itself.
The exceptional features of the Smart include:
  • Measurement speed up to 3000Hz.
  • Light weight - 350g
  • Compact size - 62mmX85mmX94mm
  • Modular setup with interchangeable objective lenses enabling various standoffs and working ranges in one sensor.
  • Sub-micron precision with short focal length objectives.
  • Simultaneous measurement on highly reflective and diffusive surfaces.
  • Extensive angular coverage of over 170° width.
  • Measurement of hard to measure geometries, steep grooves and angles.

The HD Smart has a very small spot size, for small feature inspection and measurement on very shiny surfaces.

Co-linear technology, sharp angulated surface measurement capabilities (±85° from incidence), small laser spot size and fast scanning speed make the Smart an ideal replacement of standard contact mechanical probes for various industries.

The Smart HD withstands the most stringent electromagnetic and safety regulations imposed by the CE.

Modes of Operation and Communication

The Smart-HD can be operated with both external or internal trigger modes.

The integration of the Smart software with the application software is fast and simple using ActiveX in GUI or GUI-less mode. It is possible to have multiple sensors integrated in one system and work in parallel, using standard Ethernet LAN communication. The Smart also offers an optional analog output.

Profile and 3-D measurement with the Smart-HD mounted on a measurement system in XY axes:

3-D measurement of PCB 2-D profile of PCB surface geometry
3-D measurement of vacuum holder 2-D profile of vacuum holder surface geometry

Miniature Plastic Gear Inspection
Gear inspection of miniature plastic gears is a difficult task for the conventional touch probe due to the small size of the object which requires a very delicate procedure. The very high precision, small spot size and angle measurement coverage, provided by the Smart HD, reduces setup time and enables to inspect the gear in a fraction of the time taken by conventional methods.
Roughness Measurement
Roughness measurement of metal sheets is an essential procedure in the manufacturing process of Steel. The roughness measurement requirements are very high while the sensor must be kept at a long distance from the measured surface. This task is resolved by using four Smart HD sensors measuring the roughness on both sides at different areas of the metal plate at the required distance.
