Finding in-process defects permits
immediate correction of the process and saves considerable
processing cost. Currently the prime technology in use
is the triangulation probe. Due to the poor resolution
to working range achieved with this and other technologies,
today’s probes cannot meet the accuracy and shape
analysis requirements of many in-process inspection applications.
However, the ability of Optimet’s
technology to handle difficult shapes accurately is
sure to create a much larger market for such applications
in manufacturing or assembly operations.
Optimet’s sensors have
already been successfully integrated by leading manufacturers
in the steel, automotive and aerospace industries.
