The
ConoProbe HD (High Definition)
is a very high precision optical conoscopic
holography sensor, for distance, surface
contour, 2D profile, thickness and 3D
measurements. The Conoprobe HD
has high lateral resolution due to its
small laser spot size, therefore producing
measurements in high accuracy of small
features and small radii for quality
control, inspection and metrology applications.
The ConoProbe HD is able to measure
shiny machined parts. The ConoProbe
HD has optional interchangeable
objective lenses, enabling measurements
in flexible ranges.
Angular coverage - up to 170° wide angular range coverage in all directions.
Collinear (co-axial) sensor - the laser beam is emitted and received in the same axis with no triangulation angle, allowing for measurement of holes, grooves and other deep concavities in a ratio of up to 1 (diameter) to 10 (depth).
Measurement speed - robust measurement frequency of up to 3000Hz.
Optional interchangeable objective lenses easily replaced by the user, enabling various working ranges on the same sensor.
Calibration data storage for up to 31 different calibrations.
Multiple sensor integration option - operation of several sensors simultaneously on one PC, using one hub, without any additional hardware.
Video camera accessory - option to work coaxially with the measurement axes.
Optical accessories - capability to work with periscopes, telescopes, and other relay optics.
OPS - Position Synchronization - a special firmware module embedded in the sensor's electronics which records encoders output and synchronizes the accurate position of up to 3 system axis together with the sensor measurements.
PSRB - semi-translucent material scanning - special calibration of the sensor for measurement on semi-transparent materials such as dental impression, wax and plastic materials.
The ConoProbe-HD is a highly versatile sensor, enabling measurement of very small features inspection and measurement on very shiny surfaces.
Co-linear technology, sharp angulated surface measurement capabilities (±85° from incidence), small laser spot size and fast scanning speed make the ConoProbe-HD an ideal replacement of standard contact mechanical probes.
The ConoProbe-HD is provided with a communication box connecting the sensor to the PC host via an Ethernet 10/100 LAN link or via USB. The communication box has an external trigger input enabling measurements to be triggered externally. A 3 axis position synchronization firmware option (OPS) is described below.
The ConoProbe-HD software is compatible with Windows™ 2000, Windows™ XP and VISTA. The software API can be used with any programming language that works with a 32-bit DLL.
The ConoProbe-HD withstands the most stringent electromagnetic and safety regulations imposed by the CE.
The sophisticated technology of Optimet's ConoProbe offers:
Profile and 3-D measurement with the ConoProbe mounted on a measurement system with XY axes:
3-D top measurement of a turbine blade
2-D profile of the turbine blade surface geometry
3-D measurement of a plastic mold
2-D profile of the BGA array surface geometry
Quality Control involves examining the geometrical compliance or compatibility of a part with the original design. In In-Process inspection the ConoProbe-HD measures the parts in process, and permits immediate correction of the process
Tin can inspection
Only gage in the market providing simultaneous profile of both the top and bottom surfaces of features such as the score residual or coin thickness of beverage can ends. It provides higher detail information than X-rays and vision. Quickly takes a large number of readings to give a comprehensive and accurate picture of the end progression process, including the score residual.
Roller concentricity
The diameter and concentricity of a cylindrical roller are critical parameter tested on line. If the centre of the object is known, a single sensor is sufficient for the measurement whose result is evaluated with the position of the centre point or the axis. If the position of the centre point is not known, the diameter is measured directly using two sensors. On large objects two or more sensors are also used to check for tilt or bumps.
Optimet offers a variety of objective
lenses, cables lengths and optical accessories enabling adaptation of its
sensors to a wide range of applications.

ACCESSORIES
Video
Camera (CCTV)
A special video camera mounted on the sensor through which a video
picture of the object and the sensor's laser spot are viewed. This
accessory enables easy adjustment of the sensor's laser beam in accordance
with the area being measured. The camera complies with NTSC or PAL
standards and is inserted between the ConoProbe and the objective
lens.
Periscopes
The ConoProbe can be fitted with a Periscope enabling measurement
of inner profiles and surfaces such as pipes, tubes and cylinders.
Periscope
Diamond 25/50
Excellent for profile and feature measurement of very shiny surfaces with micron precision requirements. Interchangeable lens option.
MACHINE
VISION ADAPTORS
Machine vision producers operate machines that conduct highly precise
and reliable X-Y measurements. These machines have several limitations
concerning the Z axis (height/depth measurement). Special adaptors
are available by the major TV zoom lens suppliers, which combine the
Optimet sensor within the vision system itself. This combination provides
a full X-Y-Z measurement solution with one laser beam.
