Cigarette sample- Measurement Report  


Executive Summary

The sample was successfully scanned using a ConoLne-100 in order to estimate the radius of the cigarette.

As can be seen from the picture above using Conoline100 from top we can measure up to 80°.


General:


1. This report summarizes the scans and analysis done on regular Cigarette.
2. The requirement was to scan the radius of the Cigarette.
3. The sample was scanned and analyzed using Optimet’s Viewer program.
4. The scans were performed using a Conoline-100 on Optimet’s application scanner as depicted in figure 1.

1. Measure the radius of the cigarette with 30um accuracy :


Test Set Up


1. The sample was held tight in a V block Jig on the Application system.
2. The scans were performed using a Conoline-100 with T mirror only.
3. The analysis was done in using Optimet’s viewer program.

Measurement analysis


Several radius along the cigarette:
Several cross sections of the cigarette were analysis.
1th Radius and deviation:
As can be seen the Radius is 3.702mm with radial error (STD) of 95um.

2th Radius and deviation: As can be seen the Radius is 3.775mm with radial error (STD) of 63um

3th Radius and deviation: As can be seen the Radius is 3.679mm with radial error (STD) of 70um.

4th Radius and deviation: As can be seen the Radius is 3.691mm with radial error (STD) of 65um.


Results

As can you see the radius of the cigarette can easily be measured using ConoLine100 using T mirror only.
The cigarette I measured is not a new one but It can easilly be obtain that Optimet sensor can measure it without any problem.
The Cigarette radius was changes between :3.679 to 3.775 , it also can be seen that the shape was not as round as it is when is get out of the manufatoring system.
